Notifications
Reminders are how Life Maintenance actually helps. If we never tell you a filter is due, you will never change it. This page explains the three notification channels and how to set them up.
The three channels
- Email. Sent to your account address from
noreply@lifemaintenance.io. - Push. Delivered to the mobile app even when it is closed. Push is part of the Pro and Family plans, and it needs the app installed with notification permission granted.
- In-app. Shown on your Reminders screen inside the app. This is the always-available channel.
You can mix and match. Many people use push for time-sensitive reminders and email for everything else.
Where the settings live
Open Settings → Notifications. At the top are master switches for each channel: turn a channel off there to silence it everywhere. Below that is a grid where the rows are reminder types, grouped by area, and the columns are channels. Tap a cell to turn a channel on or off for that reminder type.

Notification groups and types
Maintenance
The core schedule reminders, available on every channel.
- Maintenance Reminders: upcoming maintenance tasks for your items.
- Overdue Alerts: tasks that are past their due date.
- Prep Reminders: items to purchase or prepare before a maintenance task.
Needs Attention
Nudges about things in your account that need a decision.
- Missing Schedules: a weekly nudge when you have items with no maintenance schedule set up yet.
- Other Alerts (Docs & Mileage): expiring documents and vehicles whose mileage is out of date.
These stay quiet unless there is genuinely something to act on.
Supplies
- Supply Reorder Reminders: when a tracked supply is running low or out. Available on email, push, and in-app.
Checklists
- Checklist Approval Requests: when a checklist is ready for your approval (email, push, in-app).
- Checklist Returned: when a checklist you submitted is sent back for changes (push and in-app).
- Points Earned: when you earn points for completing a checklist (push and in-app).
- Checklist Approved / Assigned: in-app only.
Items & Warranties
- Item Issues: when an issue is opened or closed on one of your items, plus open-issue reminders (email, push, in-app).
- Warranty Expiration: warranties expiring within 30 days. In-app only.
- Safety Recall Alerts: when one of your appliances or products has a safety recall. In-app only.
Calendar
- Calendar Event Reminders: upcoming calendar events and their prep tasks (email and in-app).
Family
- Family Invitations: invitations to join a family account. Always on.
Account & Security
- Product Tips & Onboarding: occasional getting-started tips and product updates by email.
- Security Alerts: password or email address changes. Always on.
Per-channel detail
Reminders and alerts go to your account email. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also turn the whole Email channel off with the master switch at the top of the Notifications settings.
Push
Push is on the Pro and Family plans. After installing the mobile app, grant notification permission when prompted. Push is by far the most reliable channel for time-sensitive reminders, and it is available for Needs Attention alerts too.
In-app
Your Reminders screen shows recent activity. Some reminder types, like warranty expiration and safety recalls, are in-app only.
"I am not getting reminders"
The most common causes, in order:
- No mobile app installed. Push needs the app. Install it from your phone's app store.
- OS notification permission denied. Check your phone's system settings.
- A channel or type is turned off. Check the master switches and the grid in Settings → Notifications.
- Email in spam. Check your spam folder once, then mark
noreply@lifemaintenance.ioas safe. - The schedule is not actually due yet. Check the schedule's next-due date.
If none of these is the cause, contact us.
Family notifications
On the Family plan, each member sets their own notification preferences, so you and your spouse can be reminded in completely different ways about the same shared household.
